New software: Malta

Daniel Nüst - 52N
Administrator
Dear geostatistics community,

let me announce that we have a new software project in our repository:
Malta.

https://wiki.52north.org/bin/view/Geostatistics/Malta

Malta is a Javascript web client to explore a database of extreme
weather events interactively. It supports a map view and a table view of
the data and relies completely on a OGC Web Features Service (WFS) to
access the data.

It was developed in close contact with a customer of 52°North, but there
are some features where I hope the codebase will be useful to others,
such as the client side PDF generation based on PDF.js.
Right now it is tied to a specific data model and dataset which we are
still working on making available publicly. So if you like a demo soon,
just get in touch with me.

Best regards,
Daniel

Thanks Daniel, I'm looking forward to the demo!

I believe we forgot to mention that another geostatistics community
project recently started, and is kept in the 52North source code tree,
about meaningful spatial statistics. The opening page,

http://meaningfulspatialstatistics.org/

gives a pointer to a paper "Meaningful spatial prediction and
aggregation" that has been submitted, written by Christoph Stasch, Simon
Scheider, Werner Kuhn and me, and to the accompanying software and plans
(implementations, use cases, extensions) we have.

Betst,
